Training and Consultation

Training and education are essential to MSU’s civil rights compliance efforts. Training takes place through a variety of formats—from online modules, to virtual meetings, to in-person instruction—on every aspect of civil rights policy and law. Major university-wide training programs include:

SAVE Training

Sexual Assault and Violence Education (SAVE) Training is required for incoming MSU students as part of the Maroon U online course. SAVE covers subjects like effective consent, alcohol consumption, stalking, harassment, and dating violence in a clear, accessible and interactive manner.

Both Maroon U and SAVE are accessed via Canvas under the Classroom tab in your myState portal.  For returning students not enrolled in Maroon U, you will have SAVE listed as a separate course in Canvas.  This separate course is not mandatory if you already have completed SAVE, but it remains available throughout your MSU career should you want to review information.
If you have questions about the contents of SAVE Training, please contact us at titleix@msstate.edu. If you have general questions about Maroon U, please contact the listed instructor for that course.

SHARP Training

To access SHARP Training, go to the MSU PageUp Learning Portal, and log in using your Net ID and password. Select “My Community,” then “Learning Library” from the options, then choose SHARP Training from the available modules. If you have questions about the contents of SHARP, please contact us at titleix@msstate.edu. If you have technical questions or issues, please contact the MSU Information Technology Services Help Desk.

Request Training

We regularly conduct training for departments and units of all types across the university on issues ranging from sexual harassment to disability accommodation to best practices in hiring. Training can be as in-depth or as succinct as needed, and can be delivered in-person or via online meeting.

To request a training session, please use the link below and provide a short summary of your needs, preferred dates, preferred format, and any time constraints. Because each training session requires unique preparation, we ask that requests be submitted with at least two weeks lead time.
